West Bertram Volunteer Fire District
Fundraising Information

Our fire district is a part of the Linn County, Iowa governmental system.  Our Trustees are appointed to their terms by the Linn County Board of Supervisors.  Our annual operating money comes from a portion of the taxes paid by the land owners in the district.

Donations to the West Bertram Fire Station and Vehicle Replacement project are tax deductible and are termed "charitable contributions."  Those generous people donating to the project receive no tangible material benefit in return for their contribution.  Consequently, the entire amount of their donation may be used in the computation of their tax obligation for the year the donation was given to the District.

Donations can be either monetary or they can be "in-kind" donations such as concrete material, heating systems, plumbing systems, doors, windows, installation of electrical wiring and so forth.  It will take considerable money, materials, labor and enthusiasm to accomplish the goal of a new fire station and replacement of one of our large fire fighting vehicles.
